Little Trax and Teen Programs
In this program children will explore outdoor spaces and focus their attention on the colors in their surroundings, different types of terrain and how they're formed, animal tracks and habitats, and learn how they all correspond to the season, growth cycles and ecosystems. Each session will have a guided hike with discussion, followed by a snack and journal and share opportunity.
Sounds in Nature
This program will have two different age groups, and will focus on being present in the moment and mindful of the sounds in nature. In keeping with Leave No Trace Principles, this therapeutic program will help young participants learn to slow down, control impulses, and reflect. Each session will have a guided quiet hike with discussion breaks, followed by a snack and journal and share opportunity.
On the Trail Series
On the Trail is a series of classes on wilderness preparedness and survival skills. Each class will teach a general or specific topic, such as trip planning, navigation, fire starting, emergency shelters, knot typing, and more.
Leave No Trace
This educational program teaches the seven principles of Leave No Trace in an effort to minimize our impact in outdoor spaces. Participants may join the Hufftrax Junior Youth Advisory Council on Leave No Trace stewardship.
Hufftrax Teen Hike Club
This program is an outdoor hiking club for teens that teaches and encourages real world leadership skills, fosters self confidence, and promotes camaraderie with others centered around a shared love of the outdoors. Similarly to the Sounds in Nature for kids program, some hikes will have a therapeutic focus where participants are encouraged to be silent and mindful of the sounds in their surroundings.
